Our Energy Saving Timeline
2007 SOLAR PANELS IN- 12 solar panels were installed on our roof, above Mrs. Burne's science room.
2007-2008 CANVAS BAGS- Students designed and sold reusable canvas bags to raise money for the wind turbine. 2008 CLEAN AIR ZONE- Students created a Clean Air Zone in front of the school. Now, all MDI schools now display Clean Air Zone signs. 2010 ENERGY AUDIT OF SCHOOL- The students conducted an energy audit of the school. After which, they recommended that the 36 incandescent exit signs be replaced with LEDs. This saved our school over 1,800 dollars on the annual electric bill! 2010 WIND TURBINE- After years of saving, our new 1.8 kW wind turbine was installed and dedicated to the community. 2011 SUMMER INSTITUTE- The first generation of the Pemetic Energy Task Team attended the Summer Institute, where we had loads of great fun and learned lots! 2011-2012 REDUCE THE USE CHALLENGE- After attending the Summer Institute, we created the idea of having an energy challenge, in which we measured the savings of households that entered. 2012 ENERGY CALENDAR- Also, after the Summer Institute, we came up with the idea of creating a calendar, in which each month showcased a different energy saving tip. It turned out really great! |
